why i'm no longer recommending arch linux
after the recent compromise of 1500+ orphaned aur packages, i've decided to stop recommending arch linux and arch-based distributions for the time being.
to be clear, the official arch repositories were not affected. the issue was with the aur, which is community-maintained and relies heavily on trust.
i don't think arch linux is dead or suddenly unusable, but this incident has made me less comfortable recommending it as a default choice.
for now, i'll be pointing people towards alternatives like fedora, debian, linux mint, zorin, and mx linux instead.
maybe that'll change in the future, but for now i'd rather be cautious.
